Whenever possible, Child Safety tries to ensure that children in care maintain close connections with their families and communities. A kinship carer is related to the child or a significant person in the child's life. Comprehensive and high quality kinship assessments help to determine the most appropriate carer for the child and assess the safety and suitability of the kinship environment, taking into consideration the experiences and individual needs of the child.
